And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
There are days that are harder than others, right? Some of our good friends have just experienced the death of two family members within a couple of weeks of each other. It’s difficult to process all of the emotions.
I’m not the first to say it, but I often say that people respond to tragedy in two primary ways. We’ve all seen some who throw their arms up or stiff arm God or even turn away while others face the pain in their lives with open their arms and run toward God even when they don’t understand the big picture. To be honest, I’ve seen some things where I still don’t see how God is working all things together for good, but my vision is somewhat limited, isn’t it?
Paul reminds us of the Spirit’s work in our life in times like this – “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).
We are not alone in our distress. The Spirit of God is with us bringing about the best for our lives, helping us in our moments of weakness. So, let’s be the people that embrace God in every situation. He is for us.
