2 Corinthians 3:17-18
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
The graphic I’ve used for this series of emails includes a power cord that appears to be providing the power to the “Empowered” sign. What if the sign was unplugged?
When we read the letters of Paul in the New Testament, it is impossible to consider life without the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the followers of Christ. The passage above is just one example of Paul’s practical view of the Spirit, yet before I was born A.W. Tozer made the following comment regarding the state of the church in his day –
“If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 95 percent of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy Spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament church, 95 percent of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference.”
A.W. Tozer
Tozer also wrote that “the Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.”
The question is, are we experiencing the freedom and the transformation of our lives as described in the New Testament?
