Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:23

Throughout Scripture God is described as being faithful.

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

Deuteronomy 7:9

And for those of us who believe in Christ, we can confidently put our trust in the One who is faithful as we live today and hold on to the hope of our future.

What about a faithful person? What characteristics do you think of when you think of the word faithful?

My first thought turned to the idea of being faithful to the marriage covenant. This kind of faithfulness contains the idea of keeping your promises, no matter the circumstances.

Likewise, a faithful person is often viewed as loyal, devoted, and unwavering – to name a few. What would you add?

As we walk in step with the Spirit and recognize God’s faithfulness in our own lives, then a natural response would be that we grow to become the friend who is true, the employee who is dedicated to the task at hand and the follower of Christ who refuses to bow to the pressures of the world around us. We can be faithful because we serve One who is and always will be faithful.
