Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
1 Corinthians 15:33-34
Here’s one thing I know to be true because I have witnessed it with my own eyes for my entire life – If you are influenced by people with bad morals, or no morals at all, you’ll end up in a bad place.
Of course I’m not the first to say that. In the passage above, Paul quotes the Greek poet, Menander when he says “bad company ruins good morals.”
In context, Paul was speaking negatively about the false teachers who had disrupted the beliefs regarding the resurrection, but the implications are applicable in nearly every situation we face today.
Take a look at your social media feed or the other media you consume. Is it disruptive or does it encourage? Is it consistently tearing down your boundaries or does it reinforce what you know is true?
As Paul closes his chapter on the resurrection he finishes with these words –
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Regarding your confidence in the resurrection and your faith remember those words – steadfast, immovable,
