You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
Psalm 139:13-16
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
When the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex weddings, I did not anticipate what would follow next. The transgender movement surprised me. While I can remember being exposed to cross-dressing as far back as Corporal Klinger in the MASH television series, the idea of a man becoming a woman is just another step away from the creation order established by the LORD.
If you’re reading this, I am probably “preaching to the choir” on this topic, but I’ve discovered over the last few weeks several good acquaintances who have apparently given in to the wider culture in embracing what would have been considered a preposterous idea a decade ago. Needless to say, we live in a great state of confusion in the Western world.
And so it is important for the Christian to avoid being caught up in the emotional stories we may hear and build our beliefs found in the words of Scripture. In the passage above, the Psalmist describes in great detail the process of being “knit together in my mother’s womb.” The same is true for each one of us. God created us through our parents and was aware of every day of our lives here on Earth.
Read through those words in the passage again and consider the implications of rejecting God’s plan for your life.
