Bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
and shrewd in their own sight!

Isaiah 5:20-21

Earlier this week the governor of Massachusetts was surrounded by a group of women supporters as she signed the law making abortion legal throughout a woman’s pregnancy. Massachusetts is the tenth state to pass such a law in recent. years.

Recently, a professional women’s basketball player objected to the idea of men playing in the WNBA. She was met with great opposition primarily from other women.

Just last week in Cincinnati, a seven year old boy was found murdered in his own home, shared by his mother and two men claiming to be women. Local news media repeated the lie of our time, stating that the boy lived with three women, including his mother.

Thirty year old me would not have believed any of these stories could be true, but much has changed in our world as many in our nation have abandoned what is good and true for darkness and lies and it seems to be accelerating at times. What do you think?

Isaiah saw it in Israel more than 2500. years ago and the result was God giving up his people for judgement as foreign countries would invade and plunder the people of Israel.

Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble,
and as dry grass sinks down in the flame,
so their root will be as rottenness,
and their blossom go up like dust;
for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts,
and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 5:24

In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul described how we can benefit from the example of Israelites who crossed through the Red Sea, ate manna from heaven and drank water God provided from the rock and still doubted God and would not put their trust in him –

Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.

1 Corinthians 10:5-6

Let’s be determined to walk in the Light of God’s Word.
