Moving Toward God

King David was an ordinary man like us. Scripture tells us he was a man after God’s heart, but he had his failures. He was a warrior and a murderer, a husband and an adulterer, but in his failure he returned to God.

Psalm 51: 16-17

16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart,
O God, you will not despise.

The New Testament is also full of failures – people “whose lives didn’t work, who were spiritually bankrupt.  They came to Jesus, and He cleansed and forgave them.  We may think of the great apostle Paul as a great hero, but before he came to Christ he was a murderer and persecutor of the church.”

You may think you’re not qualified.  Wrong! You are qualified. Christ makes you qualified to be used by God.  A broken spirit moves you in the right direction.
