Which Path?

Read: Matthew 7:13-14

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Reflect:
Our culture is preoccupied with the “spiritual.” I remember a discussion on these words of Christ with an acquaintance in a physician’s office who rejected the exclusive words of Christ listed above. She simply didn’t believe it possible that Jesus could say such a thing.

Her response is not as unusual as some of us may think. The truth is, Jesus made many exclusive claims.  He called for a very narrow choice, but today we can locate a spiritual guide that will tell us that all paths lead to God. The answers to life’s greatest questions are inside of each one of us and we will find “life” through a Higher Power.

This gate is wide and the way is easy.

Respond:

Jesus presents us with another either/or choice here.  We can believe what He says or we can go along with the crowd.  We just can’t have it both ways.
