Resolved: To Go Forward

Read: Philippians 3: 13-14

I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Reflect:

Why is it that we make resolutions in the first place? I think we all desire to be better, to make more of our lives, to live a life worth living.

In Christian Reflections on the Leadership Challenge the editors comment: “When all is said and done, meeting the leadership challenge is a personal-and a daily-challenge. At the end of our days, the legacy we leave is the life we lead. The question that we now need to ask ourselves is, How am I going to fully use myself to make a difference in the world?”

That’s the message Paul expressed in his letter to the Philippians.  Paul would not dwell on the successes or failures of the last year or decade, he would simply continue the journey toward Christ.

Respond:

As we begin another new year, let’s take this to heart.  On this day let’s make the choices that will make a lasting legacy.
