Worry is a form of pride?

Read: 1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Reflect:

As I read this passage from Peter’s first epistle today, the notes in my Study Bible commented on the word “worry”.

“Worry is a form of pride because it involves taking concerns upon oneself instead of entrusting them to God.”

The truth hurts sometimes, doesn’t it? Have you been guilty like me? Have you tried to go at it alone thinking you have a better perspective on your circumstances than God? How ridiculous is that?

Jesus knew the people of His day asked the same type of questions – “What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear?” His response? He referred to the people who did not claim to believe in God saying, “the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

Respond:

God knows our needs. God knows our individual situations. God has it all under control? Will I humble myself and trust Him completely?
