Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

by | Mar 2, 2020 | Stand | 0 comments

Read: Mark 14:27

And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’

Reflect:

How do you respond to a stressful situation? There are moments in our lives where we learn a lot about ourselves. When Jesus was arrested on the night of His betrayal, the actions of the disciples are recorded for all to see.

And they all left him and fled – Mark 14:50.

Jesus had just warned Peter that the spirit is often willing, but our flesh is week. And like the disciples before us, it is more than a little embarrassing to admit the times when we have chosen to flee instead of standing.

I Choose to Stand – by the power of God

But all was not lost for the disciples when they relied on the power of God’s Spirit. As Peter stood with the eleven in the second chapter of Acts, 3000 were saved that very day. The Gospel advanced.

Respond:

Two steps forward and one step back – our Christian journey is not a sprint, it is a marathon. Thankfully today is a new day. We can choose to stand today.
