More than Faces in the Crowd

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Hebrews 12: 22-24

Last weekend, Patrina and I were with our daughter, her husband and their three sons walking around the Phoenix Zoo. There were all types of people, tall and small, thin and those carrying a few extra pounds.

In large groups of people it is easy to feel alone and maybe a bit insignificant, but God’s view of each one of us is quite different. Consider how Jesus described the scene in heaven when one lonely, insignificant person turns to God.

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Luke 15: 10

Take a minute to read the passage from Hebrews 12 above again and place yourself in the scene described by the writer as we are able to enter God’s presence thanks to the sacrifice of Christ.

According to this passage, you are more than an anonymous face in the crowd. Be encouraged by that fact.
