Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
Romans 11:33-36
“For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
For from him and through him and to him are all things. \To him be glory forever. Amen.
We live in what some may call unprecedented times. Some are fearful and there is a certain hostility in just about every area these days. People are more impatient and less civil toward each other.
Early this morning I was the recipient of an angry horn blast literally a second after a traffic light turned green. A block away, a man was shot inside a local fast food restaurant last week. Yes, people have always been impatient and violence is common, but there seems to be a noticeable increase, or maybe it’s just me.
In days like these it’s helpful to spend some time reflecting on the character of God and that is what Paul does as he closes the eleventh chapter of Romans.
It’s comforting to think of God’s wisdom and knowledge, his righteous judgments and character at all times. And then Paul reminds us that all things originate from God, all things are expressed through HIm and all things will return to Him.
In short, God is not surprised by anything in our world and He is faithful in every situation.
