Wait a little longer

Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!

Psalm 27:14

What do we do when all the world seems to be falling apart at the seams? The ongoing threat of a virus, upheaval in the economy, uprisings in the Middle East, a nuclear Iran, the next winter storm, a family crisis…what would you add to the list?

As I read through the 27th Psalm before sitting down to write, I noticed a common theme from David’s psalm.

He begins with the thought that his dependence and trust is in the LORD,

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

He writes of the threats of his enemies and even the abandonment of his own family, but through it all, his trust remains in God.

And so at the end of the chapter, he encourages himself and he encourages me. Wait for the LORD. Be strong and courageous and wait for the LORD. He is why we do not fear.
