Confident and Encouraged

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

1 Corinthians 15: 51-53

When I read this passage, I think of listening (the first time) to my 8-track recording of Andrae Crouch’s “Just like He said He would” from Live in London. I can still hear it somewhere in my head today as Andrae told those who were just “listening in” that this is no fairy tale.

As the fourteenth chapter of John opens, Jesus also encourages the disciples with these words: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”

Jesus told His disciples, “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:2,3).

That is the point of Paul’s declaration about the Resurrection. We have every reason to confidently believe and should be encouraged even in the day that is ahead.
