Before you say a word

You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Psalm 139: 4-6

Tomorrow Patrina and I will celebrate 39 years of marriage. I know her well and can often predict what she will say or do in a particular situation, but I still do not know her as well as God does. He knows exactly what she will say, every single time, even before she opens her mouth.

David is aware of God’s presence in his life daily. He writes that God is with him each step of the way, not waiting or looking for David to fail, but to bless David’s entire life. I am reminded of Jesus’ words to Nicodemus – “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17).

David was overwhelmed with the blessings of God in his life because he was known and loved by God. Shouldn’t we feel the same?
