But first,

Behold, my servant shall act wisely;
he shall be high and lifted up,
and shall be exalted.

Isaiah 52:13

This week marks the beginning of the season of Lent as Christians begin looking ahead to the death and resurrection of Christ.

The heading in my Bible reads “He Was Pierced for Our Transgressions” so it is interesting that the section begins with the description above describing the coming Messiah. Yes, He will be high and lifted up. His name will be exalted above every other.

At the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
    to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:10-11

But first, Jesus came to suffer on our behalf to save us from our sins. Read the 53rd chapter of Isaiah this week as we consider the prophetic picture painted by the prophet Isaiah.
