Our refuge and strength

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10

Sometimes life gets going a little too fast, don’t you agree? Over the weekend, we spent a lot of time dealing with some “urgent” situations and some projects that needed attention. It’s too easy to get caught up in what some call the “tyranny of the urgent” and then we miss prioritizing the truly important.

Toward the end of the psalm the writer tells us the importance of being still and leaning on God, but in the beginning verses he ells me why we should just be still and trust in God in all things.

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

Psalm 46:1-3

As this day begins, let me take the time to remember and focus on the Lord who is our strength and let Him be in his proper position in my life all day long.
