Psalm 136:1-3

This afternoon I listened to a podcast featuring three men discussing what it means to be a human being and the role of faith across humanity. They spoke of the roots of truth and honesty and goodness, but only two of the men would claim to have faith in the God of the Bible. The third man, an evolutionary biologist, believes there could be a God, but generally lumps all faiths or religions as products of human imagination.

It as interesting to hear these men grapple with theology and I hope they find the Source of all that is good.

In the passage above, David begins with that very thought. We are to “give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.” We give thanks because He alone is God and He is the LORD of lords.

The evolutionary biologist referred to Jesus, Mohammed, and the Buddha as religious leaders, but I am reminded of Paul’s words to the Philippians –

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

Jesus is LORD and He is good. His love endures forever.
