Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Romans 12:9-13

As we wrap up these thoughts on the Law of Liberty, my mind turns to a familiar passage. The twelfth chapter of Romans may be the most practical guide we have on how to walk daily as followers of Christ. 

In the opening verses of the chapter we are told how to renew our minds so that our devotion to God is complete. 

The verses above provide a sketch of how we are to live with fellow believers and the passage below reminds us that our love extends beyond the church and to those we may consider enemies. 

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Romans 12:14-18

And so let’s embrace the liberty of Christ daily as we live in peace, :as far as it depends on us.”
