For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Whether it is the latest superhero movie franchise or another release of the government’s files on UFOs, the world is catching up to what the Bible has always proclaimed – there is an invisible supernatural world we can’t see with our naked eyes.

We may feel a bit overwhelmed at times due to the chaos we see in our world, including circumstances like the family estrangement I mentioned yesterday. There’s no shortage of challenges and so I am reminded again of Elisha’s servant when they were threatened by the Syrian army. Elishas could see God’s protection. The servant could not until –

Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

2 Kings 6:17

The message of Elisha and of Paul is one of quiet confidence. First we recognize the battle, but then we are dependent on the LORD because it is His armor that helps us stand and stand firm.
