When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

Our lives are all bearing one kind of fruit or another, good or bad. In the verses above Paul provides quite a list of what kinds of actions are to be expected when we follow our natural desires. It’s interesting to note that sexual immorality, drunkeness and wild parties are included with hostility, quarreling, and outburst of anger. All are the result of doing things my way instead of walking in the Spirit.

It’s a reality check we all need from time to time and it reminded me of the words below from Jesus-

“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Luke 6:43-45
