Where am I headed?

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

In Christian Reflections on the Leadership Challenge, the editors comment: “When all is said and done, meeting the leadership challenge is a personal-and a daily-challenge. At the end of our days, the legacy we leave is the life we lead. The question that we now need to ask ourselves is, How am I going to fully use myself to make a difference in the world?”

That’s the message Paul expressed in his letter to the Philippians and his message resonates with me again and again.

Paul would not dwell on the successes or failures of the last year or decade, he would simply continue the journey toward Christ so that at the end he would maintain his “eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:20-21).

On this day let’s make the choices that will make a lasting legacy.
