Romans 8: 37-39
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I mentioned this idea briefly a couple of days ago, and you’ve no doubt noticed it too: how people respond to tragedy often reveals what is happening deep within the heart.
While every situation is unique and often more complex, people tend to respond to hardship in two primary ways. Some throw up their hands, stiff-arm God, or turn away in disappointment and pain. Others, even through tears and unanswered questions, run toward Him.
If we’re honest, there are moments in life that simply do not make sense. I’ve seen situations where I still cannot understand how God is working all things together for good. But the truth is, my vision is limited—and yours is too. God sees what we cannot see. He is working in ways we cannot yet understand.
Romans 8 reminds us that in the end, we are more than conquerors—not because of our own strength or character, but through Him who loved us. And if God is for us, who can truly stand against us?
So when we walk through tribulation, distress, persecution, financial need, danger, or even our fears for today and worries about tomorrow, we can stand with confidence in the unshakable love of God. Nothing can separate us from His care.
In the end, it comes down to trust and surrender. Day by day, moment by moment, we can choose to rest in His love, lean on His promises, and believe that the God who holds eternity is faithfully holding us too.
