Acting at just the right time.

All you people of the world,
everyone who lives on the earth—
when I raise my battle flag on the mountain, look!
When I blow the ram’s horn, listen!
For the Lord has told me this:
“I will watch quietly from my dwelling place—
as quietly as the heat rises on a summer day,
or as the morning dew forms during the harvest.”

Isaiah 18:3-4

In chapters 13-23 of Isaiah, the prophet delivers God’s judgement of the nations around Israel demonstrating again that the people should only trust in the LORD instead of depending on other men to save them. As Isaiah chronicles God’s words against Babylon, Assyria, the Philistines, Egypt and more, the verses above remind us that not only is God aware of what is going on in the world, He is ready to act at just the right time.

Isaiah uses familiar language to note God’s action that will interest all the “people of the world, everyone who lives on the earth.” Right now, we’re waiting for Christ’s return, but we should find comfort in God’s engagement and ability to intervene in human history as Paul recorded in his letter to the Romans –

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:6-8

At just the right time, “Christ died for the ungodly.” At just the right time, God will complete His plan of redemption.
